Well, hello October.
There’s something about October that always feels like a proper change of gear here at Lilypod HQ.
The days are getting shorter, the mornings have that definite autumn chill, the wax melts are getting a serious workout and, whether we’re ready to admit it or not, Christmas is beginning to make its presence known!
But before we get completely carried away with tinsel and twinkle lights, there’s still plenty of autumn happening around here.
Autumn is definitely here
Our Autumn Days scent has been proving very popular, and after selling out, a fresh batch has been poured and is busy curing. There’s something particularly satisfying about seeing those first autumnal batches coming together after months of planning, testing and preparing.
And then there are the scents that just belong to this time of year - warm, cosy and made for those evenings when the heating goes on a little earlier and nobody feels remotely guilty about it.
October is definitely candle-and-wax-melt season in this house - and so many of yours too as I can see, online sales have all ready wiped out one of my gorgeous autumn scents, but don't worry, the next batch is all ready curing.
A busy few weeks ahead
September brought the final Youghal Community Market and Ardmore Farmers Market of the summer, and what a summer it was.
There were challenging setups, very early starts, plenty of weather doing exactly what Irish weather does best, and so many familiar faces coming back week after week.
October gives us a few more market days before we head properly into Christmas Market Season 2026.
And yes, that means the Christmas stock is officially ready!
There is an enormous amount that happens before something lands on a market table or on Lilypod. Wax needs to be measured, melted and poured. Products need time to cure. Labels need to be printed and applied. Everything needs checking, packing, photographing, listing and, occasionally, moving around the room approximately seventeen times because I have once again run out of space!
It’s busy - but it’s the good kind of busy.
Handmade right here in Ireland
One thing I’ve become even more conscious of over the past few years is just how much of Lilypod is genuinely made here.
From developing new products and testing formulations to blending, pouring, filling, labelling and packing orders, so much of what you see from Lilypod happens right here at HQ in West Waterford.
That’s something I’m incredibly proud of.
Lilypod started back in January 2022, with the idea born months prior, and what began as an online shop selling products from other brands has grown into something where around 90% of what we sell is now made by me.
That’s a pretty big change in a few short years.
And while I’m always looking ahead to what’s next, I never want to lose that hands-on part of Lilypod.
A little bit of perfectly imperfect
You may have noticed that now is the perfect time to grab yourself one of our Perfectly Imperfect gifts.
We launched these on Lilypod.ie and across social media back in May 2025 because sometimes a perfectly usable product gets left sitting on a shelf simply because the label isn't quite straight, there’s a tiny cosmetic mark or perhaps a gentle dent in the packaging.
Nothing wrong with the product itself - just not quite showroom perfect.
Rather than letting those products sit unused, we’d much rather give them a new home.
Because perfectly imperfect is still perfectly good.
And then there’s Christmas...
I know. I said we weren't going to get carried away.
But realistically, October is when Christmas production really slows down here here.
The festive wax melts are made, the candles are poured, packaging is organised, photos are taken and edited and plenty of new ideas have been brought to life behind the scenes.
The 12 Days of Christmas and 24-day Advent Calendar are making their return, alongside some familiar festive favourites.
There may also be a few new things sneaking their way into the Christmas collection this year.
I’m saying no more just yet 😉
Thank you, as always
October is also a good time to pause for a second and appreciate just how far this little business has come.
Every order, market visit, message, review, recommendation and “I saw you on Instagram” moment makes a difference.
Whether you've been buying from Lilypod since 2022 or you've only discovered us recently, thank you.
Every single purchase helps keep an Irish, independently owned business going - and helps me continue making everything with my own two hands here in West Waterford.
So, here we go.
October, I'm ready for you.
Autumn scents, cosy evenings, busy production days, markets, Christmas prep and plenty of handmade goodness along the way.
Bring it on 💜
