September always feels like a turning point. The long, light days of summer begin to shorten, the air grows fresher, and there’s that unmistakeable shift as the seasons change. For so many of us, it’s also the time when the school bags are dusted off and the little ones head back through the classroom doors.
As a mother, I always feel a little tug at the heart when the house quiets down again. Summer brings with it a lovely kind of chaos – days spent together, no routine, just letting things unfold. And while I miss them as they set off to learn, grow, and discover all that the year has in store for them, I also find comfort in slowly settling back into our everyday rhythm. Routine has a way of grounding us, giving us space to breathe, and for me it often sparks fresh ideas and creativity for Lilypod.
This month is also a time of transition for my business. The busy outdoor markets and summer fairs begin to wind down, and with that shift, my focus turns to the festive season ahead. Autumn is when I start pouring candles with spiced and warming scents, testing blends, and preparing collections that will soon become part of your homes and celebrations. There’s something deeply comforting about planning for Christmas while the evenings draw in – almost like weaving a little bit of magic into the months ahead.
So, September is a month of change, of finding balance between letting go of Summer and leaning into the cosiness of Autumn. Whether it’s lighting a candle on a cool evening, brewing a hot cup of herbal tea once the kids are tucked into bed, or taking a quiet moment for yourself in the calm of a new routine, I hope you, too, find gentle ways to welcome the season.
